Hello!
My friend and I are interested in booking this tour from May 15–20, 2026. This is our first trip to Kenya, and we are very excited about the itinerary for the 6-day tour.
Two questions:
We see that May is the rainy season in Kenya — does that affect any of the tour activities?
We have a flight at 16:00 on May 20. Would we have enough time to return from the Masai Mara to Nairobi airport to catch that flight?
Thank you,
Melanie
17 Mar 2026 — Kenya Bush Tracks Safaris
Dear Melanie,
Thank you so much for reaching out and for sharing your questions. I’m happy to assist.
Please find the answers below:
While May does fall within the green season in Kenya, it’s a wonderful time to experience the Masai Mara. The scenery is lush and vibrant, and wildlife viewing can still be excellent during this period.
Regarding your departure flight at 16:00 on May 20, we recommended two options to ensure a smooth connection:
Adjust the routing to start the safari with the Masai Mara and end at Lake Naivasha. The drive from Naivasha to Nairobi is approximately 2–3 hours, compared with approximately 5–6 hours from the Mara to Nairobi.
Alternatively, take a scheduled flight from the Masai Mara to Nairobi on your last day.
Please let me know your preferred option, and I’ll be happy to prepare a detailed quote.
Thank you,
Maureen

Hello,
Thank you for your fast response! If we choose the first option to reverse the order of the tour, would that exclude any activities in the online itinerary? If we fly from Masai Mara to Nairobi, what airline or airstrip would we use?
Thank you,
Melanie
17 Mar 2026 — Kenya Bush Tracks Safaris
Hello Melanie,
Many thanks for your kind words and prompt reply.
Regarding the first option, please note that it does not exclude any activities. The only difference is the safari routing.
For the second option, if you choose to fly from Masai Mara to Nairobi, you would take a domestic flight. You would be transferred to the Keekorok Mara Airstrip in time for your flight, and upon arrival at Wilson Airport in Nairobi, we would meet you and transfer you to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international flight.
In terms of cost, the first option falls within your safari booking budget preference, while the second option is slightly higher due to the additional flight arrangements.
Please let me know which option you’d like to proceed with, and I’ll prepare the detailed quote for you.
Thank you,
Maureen

Great, I think we would like to do the first option — rerouting to start with Masai Mara.
One more question — would we be able to add a day to the tour to hike Mount Longonot? If so, how much extra would that cost?
Thank you,
Melanie
18 Mar 2026 — Kenya Bush Tracks Safaris
Dear Melanie,
I’m happy to share the attached itinerary and pricing for your review. The package is priced at $1,796 per person sharing.
As discussed, your safari will begin in the Masai Mara and conclude at Lake Naivasha. On your final day, after a hearty breakfast, you’ll check out of the resort by 11:00 hrs at the latest, allowing you to arrive in Nairobi by 13:00 hrs. This ensures you have ample time for airport check-in ahead of your 16:00 hrs flight.
Regarding your additional day for hiking at Mount Longonot, the cost will be $310 per person sharing.
Alternatively, I would highly recommend an excursion within Nairobi, including a visit to Nairobi National Park, followed by visits to the elephant orphanage and Giraffe Centre. This experience is priced at $280 per person sharing.
Your safari highlights include:
2 nights in the Masai Mara National Reserve, home to the Big Five and the Great Migration.
1 night in Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its rhinos and tree-climbing lions.
2 nights in Lake Naivasha, including a bike tour and game drive in Hell’s Gate, a boat ride, and a walking safari on Crescent Island.
I also highly recommend your overnight stay at Sentrim Elementaita, which offers views across the surrounding countryside and Lake Elementaita.
As a warm welcome for your first trip to Kenya, we are pleased to offer a complimentary sundowner and bush dinner experience.
Please take your time to review the package, and should you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
Thank you,
Maureen

Hello,
Thank you for the quote. We will review it and respond with any questions.
A few questions regarding adding a day to hike Mount Longonot:
Where in the itinerary would the hike be added?
Would the hike be guided? If so, would it be private and self-paced?
Where would we stay for the extra night added to the trip?
Does the quoted price of $310 per person include the hotel and meals in addition to the guided hike?
Thank you,
Melanie

Hello Melanie,
I’m happy to share more details about adding the Mount Longonot hike to your itinerary.
You’ll have three lovely nights in Lake Naivasha, giving you a nice balance of adventure and relaxation:
First day: A game drive at Hell’s Gate National Park, including a bike tour.
Second day: Mount Longonot hike.
Third day: A slower-paced day with leisure activities, including a boat ride and a walking safari on Crescent Island.
The hike will be private and guided by two experienced rangers.
You’ll be staying at Lake Naivasha Resort.
The cost is $310 per person and covers accommodation with full-board meals, Mount Longonot park entry fees, transport, the private guided hike with two rangers, and drinking water.
I hope the above helps. Please take your time to go through the itinerary, and feel free to reach out if anything comes to mind or if you’d like to tweak anything. I’m here and happy to help every step of the way.
Thank you so much,
Maureen

Wow, this is great! We would like to go ahead with the additional day to hike Mount Longonot. So instead of a tour May 15–20, we would like the tour to be May 14–20 to give us the extra day. Can you provide the formal quote for this?
Regarding dietary restrictions, one of us does not eat meat or fish. Chicken and turkey are okay.
Thank you,
Melanie

Good morning from Kenya, Melanie.
Happy to hear the itinerary looks great. Please see the attached revised 7-day itinerary. The new package pricing, inclusive of the Mount Longonot hike, is $2,106 per person sharing.
For Day 2, you’ll set off early with a packed breakfast, and our driver-guide will take you to Mount Longonot, where your rangers will be waiting to begin the hike. Afterwards, you’ll head back to the resort to freshen up and enjoy a late lunch. The rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and make the most of the resort’s facilities.
Thanks so much for sharing your friend’s dietary requirements. No worries at all. The mentioned accommodations offer buffet-style meals with plenty of variety, so there will be great options to choose from.
For the sundowner experience, feel free to let me know your preferred drinks so we can plan accordingly.
Thank you so much,
Maureen
